The Seamanship course is the ideal training for those wishing to take their first steps into the world of pleasure boating and obtain a boat driving license. This course offers a solid introduction to the essential techniques of navigation, safety and maneuvering in inland and coastal waters, enabling participants to command vessels up to 7 meters in length in daytime sailing.
Course objectives
In the Seaman course, you will learn to:
- Operate boats safely, understanding maritime rules and signals.
- Navigating and maneuvering in different conditions, adjusting to winds and currents.
- Using basic navigation equipment and reading nautical charts.
- Applying prevention and safety rules on board.
Course structure
The course combines theory and practice, with lessons on navigation, meteorology, safety and first aid, as well as practical sessions on board vessels. On completion of the course, you will be able to take the examination for the Seaman's License, issued by the maritime authority.
This course is suitable for those who want to enjoy the sea safely and independently, providing a solid basis for continuing with other nautical certifications, such as the Local Skipper course.
